What is Lead Generation?

Great question! ​Lead Generation​ is the process of identifying potential customers for your business’s products and/or services.

What is a Lead?

A lead is someone that fills out a form on your website, calls your company phone number requesting further information, initiates a conversation via email, or interacts with you on your social media channels. However, there are different types of leads (MQL, SQL), as you will read more about below.

What are MQLS & SQLs?

MQL

Marketing Qualified Lead (MQL). An MQL is when our marketing team decides that a potential customer ‘qualified’ and ready for a sales meeting follow-up.

In order to ‘qualify’, our marketing efforts bring visitors to your website and/or landing page with the objective being to engage with and capture visitor contact data. At this point, although the visitor has probably left contact details, it is fair to say that the level of intent from the visitor is still undetermined. Our marketing team will then contact the visitor and establish the level of sincerity and commitment about your product or service, which will then be scored. It could be that the visitor needs more convincing before the next stage and if this is the case, we will work with the visitor to increase the their score to get them to the next stage. Once the visitors internal score has been achieved, the visitor then becomes a Marketing Qualified Lead (MQL) and is ready to be handed over to the sales development managers.

SQL

Sales Qualified Leads (SQL) are usually visitors from your website that have be deemed a MQL by our marketing team. This means that the visitor is now ready for the next stage of the purchasing funnel whereby they will meet to have a demo or further explanation of your product or service. This stage is carried out by the sales team, in most cases, this is usually you. It is at this stage the visitor is called a Sales Qualified Lead (SQL) once the contact is “qualified” as a reliable and committed prospect.

To recap, with time MQLs should convert SQLs.
