Job hunting is genuinely hard, but nearly every graduate is going through the exact same thing at the exact same time, even if it doesn't always feel that way.
Ten things every graduate knows too well
Reorganising your desktop folders and calling it a productive morning. Finding the perfect "entry level" role, then reading the requirements and discovering it wants three years of experience nobody entry-level could possibly have. Realising, again, that a proper digital portfolio would make this whole process a lot easier, and finally sitting down to build one. Promising yourself "just one more application" at midnight and ignoring every signal that it's time to stop for the day. Watching your weekend disappear into job boards instead of actually resting. Cheering on a friend who's still deep in dissertation season, because someone has to. Weighing up whether a master's degree is worth it, purely for the extra year of structure and the chance to build a stronger portfolio along the way. Wondering, six months on, whether your virtual graduation ceremony actually counted. Bookmarking seventeen articles you'll definitely read later and never opening a single one. And, somehow, still being convinced that every job application is longer and more convoluted than the last one.
None of it is really funny in the moment, but nearly every graduate is going through some version of the same thing at the same time, even when it feels completely isolating. That's worth remembering on the harder days.
